“I am the BLOG, the future BLOG!”
“It’s no prob, cause you slack at your JOB!”

Sorry. It’s a lame 80’s cartoon reference. After Schoolhouse rock, ABC had some guy, that danced and looked like Ben Vereen. I can’t remember his name… Cedric, Wallace, or was it Wilson.

He fought the future blob. It was a trick to making kids hyper nervous about their futures.

What I’m getting around to, is “WEBLOG” sucks as a name of a weblog.

Should you want to suggest an anagram of WEBLOG to me… don’t. Already went there.

BE GLOW
BEG LOW
BEG OWL
GO BLEW
WE GLOB
BOW LEG
GEL BOW

About the only one I would use is “Bow Leg”. I wouldn’t use it though. I’ve got a couple ideas. “Eject, Abort, Oops”, “Penis Bisquit”, “Sweet Bag of Poop”, “e-spial”, and “Spare Orts”.

They all seem pretty limp. There used to be a bench nearby my place of work. It used to say “Great Clips for Hair”. Someone came by and scratched off the Gr, C, f, and H. Now that’s innovation. That brave soul dared the world to “eat lips or air”.

That’s who I want to be represented to the world as. I also want to make a color laminate to hang over the McDonalds Drive-Thru “Thank you” signs to make them read “Fuck you”.

I think that’s a social problem on my end, you shouldn’t worry about that.

Name the damn ‘Blog already. Click the [e-mail], while I go huff some [ether].

Mr. Visa and I got busy on the net tonight.

Here’s what I’ve ordered so far:

  • Epox 8KTA motherboard with an AMD Thunderbird 800Mhz CPU and heavy duty fan (plus 2 year warranty).
  • SoundBlaster Live Value
  • 2 Seagate 20.4 gig Hard Drives
  • 48x CD
  • Tomorrow I’m going after the ever elusive affordable 256 meg stick of PC-133 ram, case, and floppy drive (I have a nic, video card, and graphic accelerators already).

Let the games begin! (Hell…. now I can play the games!)

It’s safe, but it’s just bad enough to bring unwanted scrutiny. [http://news.excite.com/news/r/000924/15/online-porn]

Oh, and it’s actually not a bad news story, either.

    The Belly of the Beast

So there I was… Deep within the local belly* of the nearest AT&T Megacorp machine.

This particular gastro-cavern happened to be from their cable unit. This was handy, since I had several digital cable boxes that I needed to return to them.

Their lobby is very… antiseptic. Not particularly friendly. It has lots of televisions though. Who needs to be friendly when you’ve got T.V.?

I was stopped at the prison-like “Do not proceed further until you are called” sign, when it hit me. I have several remote controls in my hand. I suppose they would work. I took aim, and hit a button. The T.V. reacted. Good, this was good. Almost instantly the plot hatched in my head: Mute the T.V., order porn on Pay-Per-View, then be real nice at the counter.

It was at that moment I was called to proceed to the slat that contained a cable-minion.

You win this time, AT&T… next time you will not be so lucky.

Oh what a brave new world, and such people in it.

Salon is running a story on a high school that [pulled Brave New World] from their school library shelves after complaints. They complained that the book spoke of orgies, drugs, and suicide.

I’ve read the book close to seven times. There’s a message in that book. You don’t have to be an Alpha to understand it either.

What sticks in my craw about this, is this is just what the book warns about. Our school system somewhere changed from creating human beings, into creating worker drones. Their only concern seems to be creating minimum wage slaves, and not offending any lobbies. How about our schools, instead of being afraid of touching uncomfortable messages, embrace them and try and show as many of the influences that are out there.

Who knows, we might end up with high school graduates that are prepared to deal with the world on an adult level? Am I out in left field on this? [E-Mail] me and let me know. Tell me I’m full of it. Tell me I’m missing something.

    I got me a story

It involves confusion, taboo, fear, and frustration. It has a happy ending, I’m sure of it. I can see the sunset. I just can’t drive off into it at the moment.

    These Emoticons in the Mist

Here’s a snippet from ESR’s jargon file entry for [emoticon]

I’m still looking for information on their mating rituals. Also, bloodline identification guides would be acceptable.

    :-)
`smiley face’ (for humor, laughter, friendliness, occasionally sarcasm)
    :-(
`frowney face’ (for sadness, anger, or upset)
    ;-)
`half-smiley’ (ha ha only serious); also known as `semi-smiley’ or `winkey face’.
    :-/
    `wry face’
(These may become more comprehensible if you tilt your head sideways, to the left.)

The first two listed are by far the most frequently encountered. Hyphenless forms of them are common on CompuServe, GEnie, and BIX; see also bixie. On Usenet, `smiley’ is often used as a generic term synonymous with emoticon, as well as specifically for the happy-face emoticon.

    Bumper Stickers?

I’d have to say, I’m starting to be bothered by the religious bumper sticker arms race.

How…egotistical they all seem. “In the Event of the Rapture, this car will be unoccupied.” It’s almost as if to say “When god comes, your sinner ass better watch out for my pilot-less juggernaut, heathen.”

The bumper stickers seem to be talking to each other lately as well. The other day I saw “When the rapture comes, can I have your car?”

as a matter of fact, i *do* think i’m [clever]. the more i think about it, the more i’ve decided that bumper stickers are 1) quite possibly the biggest waste of molecules in galactic history, and 2) marketed to and used exclusively by those people who *always* have to have the last word. with that in mind, i’ve found some [more]!! :o )
